Students

We welcome students of all ages from 4 to 18 to participate in the Institute.

Student Institute tuition includes four daily classes.
Each class is scheduled according to the level of the student and is spread throughout the day. Depending upon the student's playing and reading level, some students will be assigned to an ensemble, such as orchestra and some to an enrichment class. Students under the age of 13 are not allowed on the campus without a parent.

Parent participation is expected and is essential to the success of the Suzuki method. Parents will attend lessons with their children and help them prepare for the next day's classes. Effort is made to avoid scheduling simultaneous individual lessons for siblings.

An hour lunch and dinner time is provided. Daily recitals are held at 4:15pm and evening activities start at 6:15. The Institute day is over at 7:15pm. The swimming pool will remain open until 9pm. Parent discussion groups are also held during the week. Time and place will be posted at the Institute.

What do you do if you have an hour open between classes? Practice, go to the pool, talk to other parents, visit the Old Town Music store, visit headquarters or have a snack. The beautiful Scripps campus has plenty of wide open spaces and outside eating areas.

Additional Enrichment Classes

These classes are in addition to the student's regular daily schedule and there is an extra cost of $30. Each class will be held in the afternoons on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday during the Institute at 3:15pm. A parent must accompany their child.

Availability of classes will be determined by enrollment.
There is a class enrollment minimum of six. If you enroll, you will be notified after June 15 as to the status of the class. Please indicate a 1st and 2nd choice when you enroll.

Students enrolling in the Suzuki ECE 0 - 3 yrs Class, Twinkler, or Dalcroze Eurthythmic classes do not have to be registered for the Institute.
