Faculty - Julie                      Newton  
Julie Newton (Cello) began her Suzuki training as a Suzuki cello student herself in Los Angeles, studying with Charlene Wilson and later Daniel Rothmuller. She is currently co-chair of the Suzuki String Department at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music where she maintains a private studio. She is a clinician at many Suzuki workshops and institutes, including the National Cello Institute. She was principal cello with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and also performed with Utah Chamber Artists and the Opus Orchestra in Salt Lake City. She served as Regional Coordinator for the Suzuki Association of Utah while living there. She has done extensive freelance work, performing with a variety of professional artists in many different genres of music. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in cello performance, and followed up with graduate work at California State University at Long Beach. She and her husband, Marty, are the parents of two children.
